Toronto has a cultural insecurity in Toronto [16:32]

Tasha: It can feel sometimes like nobody wants to come to a show in Toronto. We merely play in Toronto twice a twelvemonth maybe… People in Toronto want to feel that you left and made success elsewhere and and so come dorsum.

Danthrax: In New York, they say if you can make it here, you tin can make it anywhere. I would say for Toronto, if you can brand it anywhere, you can brand information technology here. Information technology's just a screwface Toronto thing. I remember in Toronto we have so much talent and I think that we recognize it, simply nosotros don't capeesh it. Nosotros expect at somebody and they say, that guy has talent, that girl has talent, but we're not actually ready to appreciate it until we've seen somebody else embrace them.

Tasha: In that location's a cultural insecurity that we have in Toronto. where you're e'er looking for some next human to tell yous something is cool… Nobody wants to exist the first person to say they actually like this artist, they always want to be the 2nd, tertiary, fourth person. So then it's hard to accept a co-sign that means something in the city because everything is almost consensus. Yous don't accept that in New York, everyone is so brazen in in that location.

It wouldn't be Toronto if we weren't ever a little screwface [19:41]

Danthrax: I think it's changing, but I also think it wouldn't be Toronto if nosotros weren't a little screwface. I think it'due south only a natural production of the fact that nosotros are smarter than the US. I think we're better educated, more inclusive, I recollect we're better at a lot of things. Because of that, we're more discriminating about artists. We look at them and say "oh that'south good, simply I feel like I can exercise that'. The reality is because there's and so much quality coming out of the city, and that's why we're so screw-faced. That's also the reason why the world loves Toronto, only we perchance are hard on ourselves.

You don't know when the coin is going to come [53:05]

Tasha: You convince yourself to spend the money for just half dozen months, and then things volition start to pop off. Patently, they somewhen did simply it was similar a year [later].

Danthrax: That's the thing, yous don't know. I know if we spend this coin now, that in a twelvemonth the coin will come up. I didn't know that at the time. If somebody had told me at the time, peradventure I would've handled it a lot improve. A lot of people, I bet, probably would've given up before they're about to be on… Based off of what we accomplished in the terminal year, I had already forgotten about the money and nosotros don't care about it. Information technology's an amazing position to be in, merely you don't know that when you're in the moment.

Tasha: It was really difficult. We're all really level-headed people and we made it piece of work. Merely it's just one of those things that added insult to injury. It was i of those years where information technology was one matter subsequently another… I think that it gave rise to the album. The album we ended upwards calling it Die Everyday and the championship track is the feeling rails of the album. It'south how we felt that yr when we had to wake up and exercise everything in our ability to brand this happen, sleep for a couple hours, and then practice it all once again. It's similar dying every twenty-four hours: wake upwards, and give it your all every day.

Danthrax: I'm Italian, so I love Rockie and the remake with creed and all of that stuff. At that place's that moment where you're not downward, and you go back up. Yous might even exist knocked down again and I am absolutely certain a lot of these fighters become knocked down and there'southward a point equally soon every bit they hit the mat to give up. That's when y'all realize you have ten seconds, so at least for viii seconds, you lot tin can put yourself dorsum together. You count to viii and stand up upwards, and you brush it all off. That's what "Dice Everyday" captures for me. Y'all're reborn every single time, and you let go of that fear of pain, fearfulness of loss, and you lot say that's going to exist it. You say, what else am I going to do but get up?
