Skoda Octavia RS: Launched in 2001 and discontinued in 2010, the Skoda Octavia RS is the longest running performance car on sale during its production in our list. Powered by a 1.8 litre turbocharged petrol engine which produced 150 hp of power and 210 Nm of torque. Coupled to a 5-speed manual, a well maintained the Skoda Octavia RS can still cross 210 kmph with ease. Mitsubishi Lancer Cedia: Mitsubishi is known for its motorsport heritage and the Lancer moniker won a number of awards in rallies. When Mitsubishi introduced the Lancer Cedia in India in 2006, it quickly became the ideal choice of enthusiasts. Powered by a 2.0 litre electronically controlled MPI petrol motor generates 115 hp of power and 175 Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. However, due to the poor sales of the sedan and a poor brand perception of Mitsubishi, the Lancer Cedia's fate in India was discontinued in 2015. Volkswagen Polo 1.6: Although the GT TSI and GT TDI variants that are still on sale in the country, the Polo was offered for a short span of time with a 1.6 litre petrol engine. Mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the Volkswagen Polo 1.6 generates 103 hp of power and 153 Nm of torque. In addition, the semi-independent rear suspension was the right hardware needed with a powerful engine for good handling characteristics. Chevrolet Optra SR-V: Launched in 2006 and discontinued in 2010, the Chevrolet Optra SR-V was one of the most powerful hatchbacks in the country during that time. Generating 101 hp of power and 140 Nm of torque, the hot hatchback's 1.6 litre engine was mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Although the car was offered with McPherson Strut setup at the front and the rear getting the same setup with dual links, it didn't handle as well as the other cars in this list.
